I will love you till the end of time

Oh my love

If I could write

the last poem to you

that I’d ever write

I’d tell you this

right here and now

you entered my heart

like a giant ker-pow.

Each time I write,

I think it will be my last pass

that’s why this poem

has me in a cosmic blast.

How to explain

what you’ve done to my brain?

You’ve unravelled it all

then re-beautified it again.

I can’t imagine

ever writing another poem

because each poem I write

is released like I can’t hold ’em.

I empty my soul from the inside out

but the crazy thing is,

Love keeps refilling it

like some godly spout.

I wish this poem could be

ever so much more serious;

since the topic demands it

β€”but I’m truly

Drunk on Love’s wine

I’ll never have a last poem

I’ll die writing

in my head

and loving the Universe

as I let go of it.

*Partly inspired by John A. Reyes‘ poetry challenge, on Jar of Poetry. The theme is to write your last poem. (“If you were to write your last poem, what would you leave behind? There are no creative restrictions. The only thing I ask is, β€œGive it everything you have!” ~ John)Β  Check out his awesome site and his contest before Saturday to win USD $25 for yourself or your favourite charity.

*The title came last, just entering my mindscape from the ether at that titling moment; it’s based on a line from one of my favourite Lana Del Rey songs, Blue Jeans (first version).

But the poem itself could speak to anyone. My husband, my children, my parents, my sister, my niece and nephew… and my truest friends… and/or the people that I meet, when I’m walking down Love’s street. Or perhaps most of all, creative muse — the Great CPU, as I sometimes like to call it.

    1. Robbie, your comment means the absolute world to me. Thank you so much. Seriously, this space could just be filled with hearts instead of words.

Btw I am still not getting comment notifications, only very few, like Akanksha’s and Arushi’s for example, but for some reason not yours nor some other dear friends’ as well. So if I don’t check the posts manually I don’t see them at all. Very odd.

I’ve now fixed the footnote to be more obvious, based on your comment, so I hugely appreciate the feedback. (Also I fixed some punctuation. Hehe. I send these things out too fast.)

Much love to you Robbie. This poem is for you as well. I remember your archangel-wolf wonderfulness when you first appeared around the early days of this blog. It definitely jolted my heart in a good way, and made me feel stronger.

So thanks for that, and for all your kindness around WP. It makes a big difference to others, as well as to me.

And I’m not getting notifications either I didn’t get yours I went and searched for it and found it that way this seems to be happening to people more and more there seems to be a massive glitch in WordPress itself not just with notifications but other things as well I hope they fix this it isn’t good.
So much love back to you Lia you’re amazing 🐺πŸ”₯🌹✨

        1. Thanks again Robbie. As I said to Rachel yesterday on her post lol ‘I’m sure it has nothing to do with us possibly being WP lab rats under some totalitarian rule that tries to divide and conquer genuine friendships thereby increasing senses of isolation and thus craving-for-more-likes… ;)) ;)) …so I’ll just chalk it up to β€œhmmm.” πŸ€“πŸ˜‰πŸ˜†πŸ€–’

And yes let’s hope they fix it. ;))) But either way, we can still keep trying to connect, as we have been… and remember, as many others have said before, “where there’s a will there’s a way,” and “love wins.”:)))

Thank you so much for taking the time to come back to check, dear friend. *You’re* amazing πŸ˜πŸŒΉπŸ™πŸ˜Šxoxoxo

  1. Lia this is utterly heartbreaking. It’s so beautiful I don’t have words. I hope whoever you wrote it for knows how much they are loved and appreciated. Hats off to you. πŸ’•πŸ’•

    1. Dear Tanvi, wow, coming from you as well, this is so so so wonderful to hear. Means a huge lot.

Btw, oddly, this comment did not show up on the post (for me, at least) until after I replied to Robbie above, even though your comment is timestamped from before. Completely bizarre comment and notification issues right now in WP. So if I miss anyone’s comments please forgive me.

Anyway, heartfelt thanks, and much love to you. I very much appreciate the kind words. xoxoxo πŸ™πŸ’•πŸ˜ŠπŸŒ·

  2. This feels like such a testament to you and the way you write. How could you ever write a last poem when you write straight from your heart?? You have a full and generous heart, you will always have another poem.

So so so gorgeous. I love this

    1. “I love this” — and I love you. ❀ Hope that's not too bold but it's truly true.

You've been such a great friend to me and to my ramshackle words… can't thank you enough Rachel. Your comment also means the world. πŸ™πŸŒβ˜ƒοΈβ˜€οΈ

(p.s. not sure why I picked that snowman – I guess mainly because it came up when I typed in "world" – and it reminded me of that adorable guy from Frozen)

  3. Wow Girl!!! You are rocking it, big time. It reads like an amazing love letter ❀️. Especially the lines “You’ve unravelled it all then re-beautified it again” are so beautiful!! I love it πŸ˜πŸ’™πŸ’šβ€οΈ

    1. Ah bless you… thank you so much for this. Truly. I really was confused and felt terrible for it as well. I’ve never won a contest since school days and doubt more and more that I ever will, so I guess I was a bit broody. πŸ˜‚ Can I blame it on menopause? Lol. Thank you dear WMM. You truly are lovely. πŸ™β€οΈ
